The boardwalk from Hastings Street out to Noosa National Park is a great experience whatever your level of fitness, but why not challenge yourself and continue through the Park along the coastline out to Hells Gates.
This popular walk is a must do and one that you will never forget. Give yourself around
2-2.5hrs return.
The coastal track begins at the headland section of Noosa National Park. The track is bitumen as far as Dolphin Point and wheelchair friendly.
About five minutes up the track is the Witches Cauldron or Boiling Pot. To the east is a postcard view of Tea Tree Bay and to the west and north, panoramic views accross Laguna Bay and up to Double Island Point.
Another 10 minutes along is Tea Tree Bay, one of the prettiest bays with excellent waves.
A couple of hundred metres up the hill from Tea Tree Bay is Dolphin Point with a great view to the east overlooking Granite Bay.
Between June and November, humpback whales can be glimpsed as they cruise past the coastline. The best spots to watch the whales are at Dolphin Point and Hell's Gate. Dolphins are also regularly seen from these points.
Granite Bay follows over the top of the cliff. If you continue along the cliff track you will come to a rough track that takes you down to Picnic Cove. Enjoy a rest under the pandanus and enjoy the view.
100 metres further along the cliff top track bends back towards the south-east and if the prevailing south-easterly is blowing you soon realize how protected the Noosa Bays are. Below you will notice the surf churning in Hell's Gate and to the south you can see the length of Alexandra Bay.
There are five interconnected walks in this section of the park.
The park headquarters Information Centre provides detailed maps and displays of what the park has to offer.
