Heron Island is a World Heritage Listed coral cay which offers direct access to the spectacular beauty of the Great Barrier Reef. Heron Island also offers close encounters with an amazing array of marine, animal and bird life and offers special 'Kids Junior Ranger' activities during school holidays.

At Heron Island you can swim straight off the beach to an endless garden of coral where the waters are literally teeming with beautifully coloured fish and marine life or join a guided reef walk to learn more about the unique ecology of the Great Barrier Reef. Enjoy a day trip to explore an idyllic, uninhabited coral cay or spend the day just lazing by the pool.

At night there's live entertainment, dancing or a quiet drink at the Pandanus Lounge. Breakfast is included in your room rate and you'll find a range of accommodation to suit your budget. It is the relaxed island lifestyle that sets Heron apart, a sophisticated yet casual resort atmosphere.

Accommodation:

Turtle Rooms are located in a garden setting, a short walk away from the beach and close to the central resort facilities. With two rooms per block, all Turtle Rooms are at ground level and feature a deck and outdoor area. Rooms are compact and interiors are bright and fresh.
Family room configurations are available.

Reef Rooms are positioned close to the beach and offer filtered reef and water views through a canopy of beachside trees and shrubs. The living area extends outdoors to a balcony or garden setting, interiors are light and comfortable.
Reef Family Rooms may be available on request - Please note that views of the beach can not be guaranteed at time of booking and are subject to availability.

Beachside Suites offer spectacular filtered views over the Great Barrier Reef and are set in a prime beachside location with direct access to the beach and reef.  Double glass sliding doors fill the room with natural light and connect both the spacious bedroom and separate living area with a large outdoor balcony.  The living area features a divan, comfortable armchairs, coffee table and desk. The Suites offer a large bathroom, mini-bar and CD player.

Wistari Suites are situated within a secluded garden setting with filtered ocean views and offer maximum privacy. Interiors are spacious and include a living area with sofa and armchair and separate sleeping area with King Size bed. Wistari Suites are air-conditioned and have a mini-bar, CD player and telephone in the room.  A private outdoor terrace features wooden furniture and a two person hammock. The Suites are a short stroll away from the central resort facilities, beach and walking tracks.

Point Suites are set in a premium position with an outlook that offers uninterrupted reef views and magical sunsets over the Great Barrier Reef. Suites are within easy access of the resort amenities. Point Suites are spacious and include a large ensuite and separate dressing room. A generous living area extends through glass doors to an extensive outdoor terrace with sun lounges and walking out onto the lawn and resort gardens.  Point Suites are air-conditioned and enjoy a range of in-room comforts including a mini bar, a CD player and phone.

The Beach House is located beachside and set within a grove of trees, offering filtered ocean views and a private boardwalk that provides direct access to the beach. With only one Beach House on offer, this accommodation offers maximum privacy and is located a short stroll away
from the central resort facilities and restaurant. The Beach House is air conditioned and features a separate bedroom, with spacious ensuite including a bath and shower. An expansive living area features an oversized sofa and work desk and opens out onto a private patio with outdoor furniture and outdoor shower.

Kids Special!
Children 12 years and under stay free using existing bedding. Children eat free when dining with a paying adult at buffet restaurants or from the children's menu.

Dining:

The Pandanus Bar & Lounge features panoramic Reef views, with a cocktail bar, entertainment lounge, dance floor, and a mezzanine level library area. A varied live entertainment program takes place each evening.

A full buffet breakfast is included in your rate. Breakfast and lunch are buffet style while dinner features a 3 course table d'hote or Saturday seafood buffet and mid week Aussie BBQ. Picnic Hampers can be collected from 12:00pm and offer the choice of sandwiches for two or a Mediterranean hamper for two.

You can also choose to upgrade to a Meal Package option which includes buffet lunch daily, three course Table d’ Hote dinner OR buffet dinner, picnic hampers and lunch on day of departure.

Getting There:

Heron Island lies on the Tropic of Capricorn (23 degrees south of the equator), 72 kilometres NE off the coast from Gladstone, central Queensland.

A courtesy coach transfer from Gladstone airport to Gladstone Marina is available. The boat service departs Gladstone Marina at 11.00am daily, duration approx 2hrs.
