Enjoy an Island getaway this Christmas!
Set off on a natural island escape to Heron Island to celebrate this Christmas with the whole family. Heron Island is a true coral cay located right on the Great Barrier Reef. 24 December – Christmas Eve
Bring the whole family and get into the Christmas sprit by joining us for Carols by Glow Light with the Heron island staff choir and Amazon Blue in the Pandanus lounge.
25 December - Christmas Day
Lunch
Celebrate Christmas Day by joining us for a Christmas lunch feast! See Santa arrive by boat as he hands out presents to the kids. Cost is $75 per person.
Dinner
At night, a Christmas buffet dinner will be served featuring your favourite Christmas carvery delights including roast turkey, chargrilled chicken and whole honey baked leg ham. Cost is $45 per person.
31 December – New Year’s Eve
6pm
Head off on the Farewell 2009 Sunset Cruise. Cost is $60 per person and includes cheese and wine. Please note that children are not catered for.
6.30pm
Enjoy New Year’s dinner in the Shearwater Restaurant. Cost is $45 per person for 2 courses or $55 per person for 3 courses.
8.30pm
Celebrate the last few hours of 2009 in style with the New Year’s Pirates of Capricornia themed event. Don’t forget to dress to impress.
In addition to the special festive activities, Heron Island is world famous for its fantastic scuba diving and snorkelling. Experience some of Australia’s best dive spots - more than 30 dive sites are available, half of which are only 15 minutes from the beach. Making their first appearance this season, Humpback Whales have been spotted recently passing within just a few hundred metres off Voyages Heron Island, as they make their journey further north to warmer waters.
A pod of approximately 12 migrating whales have been sighted in the Wistari Channel treating guests and staff to a spectacular show from the beach and the island jetty.
The whale migration season is the ultimate time for families and nature lovers to visit Heron Island and get close to nature.

Heron Island and Wilson Island are preparing to welcome amphibian guests in the coming weeks with the arrival of the annual turtle nesting season.
During October, Green and Loggerhead turtles begin to arrive in the waters around Heron and Wilson Islands to commence breeding, many of which will have travelled from their nesting grounds up to 2,000kms away.
To celebrate the impending arrival of the turtles, Heron Island is offering guests two nights FREE! Stay six nights, pay for only four nights. The offer includes full buffet breakfast daily and many island activities including guided reef walks, snorkelling lessons and guided birdlife walks.
